SkateABLE™ is a non-profit organization that exists for the purpose of enriching the lives of persons with physical and developmental disabilities by offering high-quality adaptive ice skating programs.
SkateABLE™ is a progressively structured program that is aligned with the Canadian Sport for Life Long Term Athlete Development Model. As a HIGH FIVE® registered organization, SkateABLE™ is committed to delivering programs to the highest standard of quality and safety for sports and recreation in Canada.
Through the use of adaptive skating equipment including adaptive skates, walkers, harnesses, and accessories, persons with any form of physical or developmental disability can participate in ice skating. We can accommodate skaters with disabilities including cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, Autism, Down Syndrome, language and speech delays, hearing impaired, and learning disabilities.
The SkateABLE™ program is run by a group of very talented and caring local skating coaches from Trillium Skating Academy. All SkateABLE™ coaches are NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) certified, HIGH FIVE® certified, and trained by KidsAbility in disability awareness and behavioral management. All coaches have also undergone the Trillium Skating Academy skating coach certification coarse and mentoring program. Assisting the coaches are trained volunteers.
Through our many community partnerships and generous donations and sponsors, SkateABLE™ makes what seems to be the impossible, truly POSSIBLE!
